Short for “ranking battles,” ranbats are a series of tournaments run over a scheduled period of time. Points are accumulated throughout each session and players are ranked accordingly. Think of this as more of a league than a tournament. As many players feel the outcome of a single tournament does not always reflect the true skill of a player, a full season of ranbats is played to reduce that factor.
Never played in a tournament environment before? Don’t be worried! Players of all ages and skill level participate in this event. AKG has held ranbat seasons in previous years, bringing Alaska’s fighting game scene together with hopes of improving and expanding the community even further! If you have ANY interest in fighting games at all, you won’t regret stopping by to play in any event. Most of us are willing to help in any way possible when it comes to getting started with tournament play. You will improve your game and have fun doing it!

Ranking System:
The points system is slightly different from others in that the size of the bracket will determine the points you earn per week. All participants will earn at least one point just for participating in that week’s event:
For any brackets with less than 8 players, the highest point value is removed per place less than 8. For example, a 6-player bracket will have points distributed 4 / 2 /1 …
